LANSING — House Democratic Whip Robert Kosowski (D-Westland) was proud to see legislation he introduced, House Bill 4022, pass the House Committee on Families, Children and Seniors. The bill requires Department of Health and Human Services caseworkers to review credit information of children in foster care to ensure no one has stolen their identity.

“Kids in foster care are some of our most vulnerable citizens, and unfortunately, some people would take advantage of that,” Kosowski said. “My bill ensures that while they are in the foster care system, they will be safe from identity theft.”

The bill now moves to the full House for consideration.
