LANSING — The House of Representatives approved state budgets today for fiscal year 2019-20. In response to the passing of the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) budget, state Rep. Mari Manoogian (D-Birmingham) issued the following statement:

“Today, after years of inaction, this Legislature is finally turning a corner in the fight to safeguard the public health. I was happy to vote in support of this budget, which included an additional $120 million devoted specifically to clean up our water and in particular, fight the spread of PFAS – an amendment I was proud to propose at the beginning of the budget negotiation process. There is much more we can do to clean up our air and our water, yet I am hopeful that this is only the beginning of our state’s commitment to protecting and valuing our environment, and in doing so, protecting the people who call Michigan home.”
