State Representative Brian Banks (D-Harper Woods) will hold a town hall meeting Monday, March 31, from 6-8 p.m. at Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, 1100 Lake Shore Drive in Grosse Pointe Shores, to discuss the issues posed by stormwater runoff pollution and phragmites.

“Polluted stormwater runoff can have many adverse effects on plants, fish, animals and people,” said Banks. “I am holding this event to make sure our communities are informed of the issue and the ways they can help keep our water clean.”

The event will feature representatives from Clean Water Action, the Sierra Club, the city of Grosse Pointe Shores and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. There will be a panel discussion followed by a question and answer session. This event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

“It is amazing what can be done when community members work together to solve a problem,” Banks said. “I’m convinced that when armed with the correct knowledge and information, the residents of House District 1 will be able to keep our water safe and clean.”
