LANSING — Today, Senate Bill 353, which would prevent local governments from regulating the information employers can request, require or exclude during the interview process, passed on the House Floor. In response, state House Democratic Floor Leader Christine Greig (D-Farmington Hills), issued the following statement:

“Michigan’s working people are looking for leaders who will look out for them. Instead, the Legislature has passed a bill that will do nothing to help them, giving employers a license to ask invasive questions that will make it easier to offer them lower salaries and perpetuate the wage gap that allows women to earn less for doing the same work as their male counterparts. This isn’t the way to build a better Michigan that will bring more better-paying jobs and more opportunity to working people, which is what I’m here to do.”
