LANSING — Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted on the FY 2018-19 General Omnibus budget. In response, state Rep. Darrin Camilleri (D-Brownstown Township) issued the following statement explaining his no vote on the budget:

“This is a budget that comes up short of helping working families build a future here in Michigan. It fails to take seriously the ongoing infrastructure crisis here in our state, doing little to address the needs of local communities. This budget takes our families’ health for granted, cutting by nearly 20 percent the programs that keep our air, water, and soil clean. And for yet another year, it ignores the pleas from local communities for support for our police, fire, and other public services. Our constituents sent us to Lansing to do so much better than this, and I cannot support a budget that falls short of building economic opportunity and stability across our state.”
