LANSING — Yesterday, state Rep. Phil Phelps (D-Flushing) recognized newly elected Flint city councilmember Santino Guerra on the House floor at the state Capitol building. Councilman-elect Guerra is the youngest person in Flint to ever hold this position. In response, Rep. Phelps issued the following statement:

“I could not have been more proud to recognize Councilman-elect Guerra’s impressive achievement on the House floor yesterday. Especially in today’s politically charged environment, it is more important than ever that our young folks are civically engaged and involved in helping their community succeed. I look forward to working with Councilman-elect Guerra and the rest of Flint’s administration to get as much accomplished as possible in the coming year.”
