LANSING — On Tuesday, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that the Voters Not Politicians ballot initiative to create a bipartisan redistricting commission will be allowed on the ballot in November’s general election. In response to the ruling, state Rep. Yousef Rabhi (D-Ann Arbor) issued the following statement:

“I am glad that the Michigan Supreme Court has recognized the right of Michigan residents to vote on this important election reform. Gerrymandering is a serious problem here in Michigan and across our country, and voters have the right to choose whether this politicized process should come to an end. Our electoral system should be one in which voters choose their elected officials, not one in which our elected officials choose their voters.”
