Dear Neighbor,

Happy September! As Michigan’s summer comes to a close, it presents an ideal opportunity to reflect on the memories and fun of the past few months and begin considering what the remainder of the year has in store for us.

Students have returned to school, families have returned from their summer trips, and pleasant weather is upon us. As we head toward autumn, I am reminded of the great multitude of opportunities that our beautiful and vibrant community has to offer.

As always, my office and I are honored to serve you. Below, you will find updates and resources that may be helpful as you plan for the month ahead.

Thank you,

Jason Hoskins, M.P.A., J.D.

📝 Share Your Vision for Michigan’s Future

My colleagues and I have been in collaboration to create a vision for the coming years here in Michigan, and now we want to hear from you!

We are hoping to receive your feedback as we work to develop policy priorities that center Michiganders’ needs and explore the topics that matter most to you as we chart the path forward for Democrats in Michigan together.

If you have an extra two minutes to provide your feedback, I’d appreciate hearing from you:

🧾Rejecting the GOP Budget and Calling for a Responsible Plan to Protect Families

This week, I released a press statement opposing House Republicans’ proposed budget in House Bill 4706, which makes deep cuts to health care, housing, public safety, economic development, and other core services. I warned that these reductions would harm seniors, children, low-income families, and communities of color, and that it would weaken the foundations of a fair society. I reaffirmed my commitment to working toward a responsible budget that protects essential services and strengthens opportunities for all Michigan families.

🎥 2025 Oak Park Film Festival

The Oak Park Arts and Cultural Diversity Commission is hosting the 2025 Oak Park Film Festival. The event will run for three days and takes place in both the civic center area and the social district.

There will be films, activities, workshops and food! The spirit of film is alive and well in Michigan and this festival aims to highlight that.
