Breen Calls for Leadership Grounded in Humanity and Focused on Lower Costs Following State of the State Address

Press Statement | Office of State Rep. Kelly Breen
LANSING, Mich., Feb. 26, 2026 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her final State of the State address before a joint legislative session yesterday, outlining priorities for the year ahead as Michigan continues work to protect families and strengthen communities. In response, state Rep. Kelly Breen (D-Novi) issued the following statement:
“Yesterday’s address reflected what families are asking for: lower costs, safer communities, and leadership grounded in humanity. Effective policy must protect people, especially those most vulnerable to exploitation and harm. That is why I will continue advancing my bipartisan human trafficking package while working to make housing, health care, and everyday necessities are more affordable for working families. I look forward to continuing this work with the governor and colleagues across the aisle to deliver policies rooted in empathy, accountability, and real outcomes for Michigan communities.”
