Hello Friends,

As we move through November, our community reflects on two meaningful observances that bring us together. Veterans Day offered us a moment to honor the courage, sacrifice and service of the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform along with the families who stand behind them. With Thanksgiving just ahead, I want to extend my warmest wishes to everyone celebrating. May the holiday bring gratitude, connection and time with the people who matter most.

As we enter the holiday season, please know that my office remains fully committed to serving you. If you need support with state services, have concerns to share or want to stay informed, we are here for you and will continue responding promptly to every request.

As always, if my office can be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can contact us via email at [email protected].

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you!

Sincerely,

Ranjeev Puri
Democratic Leader
24th House District

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

Update: November SNAP Benefits to be Distributed
As of Nov. 10, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has directed its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) EBT vendor to once again begin issuing full SNAP benefits to Michigan SNAP recipients. SNAP recipients who normally receive their benefits on the ninth of the month should have received their full SNAP allotment within 48 hours. All other SNAP recipients should receive full benefit payments on their normally scheduled date. Those who receive monthly benefits on the 3rd, 5th, and 7th of the month previously received their benefits.

SNAP recipients are encouraged to reach out to their local MDHHS office with any questions regarding SNAP benefits or they can check MI Bridges for updates. Please see MDHHS’ website and Facebook Page for additional information and to stay updated as we head into next month.

If you are in need of assistance, please utilize the many programs and resources that organizations in our community offer. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO

Business of the Month:

Congratulations to Wild Wolf Coffee, House District 24’s November Business of the Month!

Located in Cherry Hill, Wild Wolf Coffee is more than just a coffee; it’s a welcoming community hub known for its expertly crafted drinks and quality ingredients. Their passion for coffee, creativity and community connection embodies the best of Canton’s small business spirit.

Congratulations to Wild Wolf Coffee for serving up both exceptional coffee and genuine hometown warmth!

Teacher of the Month:

Mrs. Caudill currently teaches Elementary school at Plymouth-Canton Community Schools.

Described by one parent as “pure sunshine in human form,” Mrs. Caudill balances kindness with structure, fun with focus, and always goes the extra mile to ensure her students are learning, growing and enjoying their time at school. Her dedication and positivity make a lasting impact on every child she teaches.

Mrs. Caudill, congratulations and thank you for your incredible dedication to your students and our community.

Governors Service Awards:

I recently attended the Governor’s Service Awards, where Canton resident Manya Tijoriwala was recognized for her dedication to community service. She was named a co-winner of the Youth Volunteer of the Year award for her commitment to volunteerism and advocacy. It was an inspiring evening celebrating individuals who contribute to Michigan’s continued success.

Volunteer at Cass Community in Detroit:

I joined Cass Community Social Services in Detroit, alongside state Rep. Helena Scott, to support an organization that provides meals, shelter and essential services to individuals experiencing hardship. As many Michiganders continue to face economic challenges, groups like Cass Community play a crucial role in meeting immediate needs. I appreciated the opportunity to assist their work and learn more about the programs they offer.

Emgage’s Emerging Leaders Program:

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of joining participants in Emgage’s Emerging Leaders Program, which trains the next generation of Muslim American civic leaders through workshops on storytelling, civic engagement, policy and public speaking. The program blends classroom learning with real world experiences, it was an incredibly exciting opportunity to speak with such motivated young leaders.

South Asian Community Meeting:

I attended a South Asian community meeting focused on community-building, advocacy and civic engagement. Moderated by Ann Arbor City Councilmember and MI-APAA Commission Chair Ayesha Ghazi Edwin, the gathering brought together community members and elected officials for meaningful dialogue. I value every opportunity to hear directly from residents about their priorities and hopes for Michigan.

Interfaith Event in Remembrance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji:

I was honored to participate in an interfaith event held at a Sikh Gurdwara in remembrance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Representatives from Hindu, Baptist, Methodist, Muslim and Baha’i communities shared reflections on unity and compassion. It was a powerful reminder of the strength found in interfaith understanding.

Dearborn Belongs to Everyone — Call for Unity:

On Nov. 21, I joined the Mayor of Dearborn, fellow elected officials and religious leaders outside the Islamic Center of America to call for unity and denounce acts of hate. Recent incidents in Dearborn and across the country underscore the importance of standing together and reaffirming that all communities deserve safety, respect and belonging.

Visiting Congresswoman Debbie Dingell in D.C.:

During a recent visit to Washington, D.C., I met with Congresswoman Debbie Dingell as Congress returned to session. We discussed upcoming budget work and ongoing efforts to expand access to affordable, quality health care for all Michiganders. I always appreciate the opportunity to collaborate on issues affecting our state.

Gun Sense Heroes Series:

I recently sat down with Everytown for Gun Safety and Demand a Seat for their upcoming Gun Sense Heroes series. The project features four elected officials discussing their paths to public service, the challenges of this work and the real-world impact of gun violence prevention efforts. I look forward to sharing more once the series launches in the coming months — stay tuned.
