Dear Neighbor,

It’s December and the holiday season is well underway. Amidst the many celebrations, our fight to make Michigan a better state for all continues. Trust that while many of us make some time in the coming weeks for ourselves, family and community, I will remain dedicated to serving you and ensuring that your voice is heard in Lansing.

I continue advocating for swift action to invest in our community. Your voice is critical during this period, and I will continue to ensure that I understand your priorities for our state. If you have thoughts that you would like to share with me and my team, I encourage you to reach out!

Please do not hesitate to reach out to my office by phone at (517) 373-0823 or email at [email protected] for questions about this or any other state-level issue. You can follow me on Facebook to get regular legislative updates, too.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Let’s keep moving Michigan forward together!

In Service,

Community Conversation

This month, my office will host a community conversation event on Monday, Dec. 22, at 5:30 p.m. at the Berkley Public Library. This event will feature special guests Oakland County Water Commissioner Jim Nash and Berkley Mayor Bridget Dean. Together we will talk about municipal lead service line replacement and the impacts of unfunded mandates on city budgets.

If you can’t join us in person, you can join the event virtually over Zoom (Passcode: 524107). It is also recommended that guests, both in-person and online attendees, submit their questions in advance using this form. We look forward to meeting with you all and discussing the work our offices are doing to support you.

Health Care for All Town Hall

Last month, I hosted a Health Care for All Town Hall with special guest state Rep. Carrie Rheingans. This event focused on the proposed MiCare program and the impacts of the ACA credit expiration. It was great to hear from so many of you about your thoughts on health care in our state. Thank you to everyone who came out!

Legislative & District Updates

Knocking On Your Doors

During the warm season, my team and I connected with thousands of residents across our district, engaging in meaningful conversations about our work in Lansing and the issues that matter most to you. These discussions covered a wide range of topics, from noise concerns on Woodward Avenue to education to the housing crisis.

Now that we are experiencing colder weather we have shifted our focus to our monthly community events. We will be back out knocking doors again in the spring. In the meantime you can reach us at our community events, at our office by phone at (517) 373-0823 or by email at [email protected]

The MI House Democrats Vision Project

We continue to engage with Michiganders about the MI House Democrats Vision Project. This project is your opportunity to be part of setting our legislative agenda for when House Democrats retake the gavel. In a time when people often feel disconnected from the work of government, it is critical that public servants at all levels remain accountable to their electorate. To give your feedback, please visit the website or scan the QR code below.

Michigan House Dems Vision Project Graphic: Making government work for you. Above the vision project logo text reads: Michigan House Dems are fighting for Michiganders on core issues including: Lowering costs, delivering quality education, promoting health communities, labor and neighborhood development, protecting our environment. A QR code sits above text that reads: We Want to hear from you! Take our survey. Questions? Contact NataliePrice@house.mi.gov

Legislation

Here are a few important pieces of legislation I’ve been championing this month to create real change for our communities:

  • SB 158 — I am strongly supporting this Senate bill that would prohibit online bots from purchasing tickets for resale
  • HBs 4532-4535 — I am leading this bipartisan package of bills to protect health care providers and volunteers from workplace assault and connect patients facing serious mental health crises with treatment.
  • HBs 4433-4458 — I am collaborating with my colleagues to strengthen labor protections, increase worker safety and increase workers compensation. Working people should be able to focus on their job without having to worry about the environment in which they work.
  • HB 5047 — Led by state Rep. Tonya Myers Phillips, I am cosponsoring this bill that would prevent seniors and vulnerable families from facing utility shut-offs in the winter.

Please note this is not an exhaustive list of all the issues my office is working on. Stay tuned for updates as we continue working on critical legislation.
