Democratic lawmaker honored for advancing policies that strengthen health care system

PONTIAC, Mich., Dec. 5, 2025 — Earlier this week, the Michigan Health Purchasers named state Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac) their legislator of the year, citing her continued work to advance policies that strengthen transparency, fairness and affordability in the health care system. After receiving the award, Carter issued the following statement:

“As the state representative for  Pontiac, Waterford Township and Auburn Hills, I fight every day for families who deserve stable, affordable health coverage.
