LANSING —Today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed executive order 13 which reorganizes the Department of Talent and Economic Development into the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO). The reorganization will consolidate all labor and employment relations and their functions into one department to streamline processes. In response, state Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac) issued the following statement:

“One of the most common barriers to continued economic growth is communication between departments and a cohesive vision for the future. With this latest reorganization and consolidation, LEO will not only be able to increase communication between its sub-departments, but it will also be able to pursue a unified path to move our state forward. I am looking forward to the great work LEO will do for our state.”
