BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., July 5, 2022 — After more than two grueling years on the frontlines of the pandemic, SKLD Bloomfield Hills Nursing Home Workers plan to strike on Monday, July 11, to demand an end to unfair labor practices. Workers are demanding better working conditions, better pay, safe staffing for quality care and the right to join a union without interference. State Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac) issued the following statement in support of the workers:

“I applaud these workers for standing up for what’s right. Elder care workers faced incredibly difficult conditions during the pandemic. They should be able to organize and advocate for themselves without undue interference from their employer. Their demands for better pay and increased staff are just. I fully support them and all those across the country standing up for their rights as workers.”
