PONTIAC, Mich., March 2, 2026 — Yesterday, state Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac) honored and celebrated the remarkable life of Pontiac resident Gladys Myers, a woman whose century of living reflects God’s grace, unwavering faith, resilience and boundless love, with a tribute presentation.
Born on March 1, 1926, Gladys has witnessed and endured a hundred years of profound change. As a Black woman coming of age in an era of limited opportunity, she has walked by faith, carrying herself with dignity, grace and quiet determination. Her life stands as a testimony of perseverance and trust in God as she shaped her own journey and the lives of generations that followed.
“Reaching 100 years is a rare and powerful blessing. It represents a life richly lived — and Gladys’ life has been guided by faith, marked by sacrifice and sustained by God’s enduring love. She stands as a living testament to the power, resilience and grace of Black womanhood under God’s care,” Carter said.
Gladys is a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother and a beloved great-grandmother. Family is her ministry, and her home was a sanctuary filled with warmth, wisdom, prayer and unconditional love. Through lessons taught, prayers spoken and values modeled, she instilled strength, patience and faith that continue to live on through her family today.
Known for her nurturing spirit and steady presence, Gladys is the heart of her family, and her influence is evident in every life she touches.
“Happy 100th Birthday, Gladys,” Carter concluded. “Your legacy will live for generations to come in your family, your community and the countless lives you have inspired.”
