DETROIT, Mich., Dec. 12, 2025 — Members of the Detroit Caucus hosted a media roundtable with stakeholders today to discuss House Republicans yanking back $645 million in funding for Michiganders. Following the event, the Detroit Caucus issued the following statement:
“We are taking a stand against the recent actions of the House GOP. We condemn their lack of transparency and the callous take back of funding so desperately needed and already promised to our communities. The direct impact of their actions is a breach of trust to the many groups and programs that support Michiganders. Their decision to disrupt care for individuals undergoing cancer treatment, jeopardize feeding the hungry and disapprove funds for veterans — is another failed attempt at their unfounded war on ‘waste, fraud and abuse.’ They have only managed to cut what our constituents call a lifeline. Democrats will not be silent especially when the safety, the well-being and the ability to thrive for all Michiganders is under attack.”
