LANSING — Last week, state Rep. Brian K. Elder (D-Bay City) was reappointed to the Michigan Law Revision Commission for the 2019-2020 session. The commission meets regularly to discuss and recommend legal changes that modify or eliminate antiquated and inequitable rules of law, and to bring the civil and criminal law of the state in line with modern practices. Rep. Elder also served on the commission in his first term from 2017-18. In response, Rep. Elder issued the following statement:

“Sitting on this commission last year was a highlight of my time in Lansing; as a lawyer and historian, being able to write our state’s laws — and then update them on this commission — is a true joy and honor. I look forward to continuing my work in this position to ensure Michigan’s laws work for all of our people.”
