LANSING, Mich., Feb. 19. 2026 — Recent reports indicate that President Donald Trump is preparing for a potential military strike against Iran as early as this weekend, a move that could bring the United States closer to war with the country. In response, state Rep. Alabas Farhat (D-Dearborn) issued the following statement:

“We’re hearing more about the U.S. moving closer to war with Iran, which means more taxpayer dollars sent overseas. Meanwhile, families here are trying to afford groceries, pay for prescriptions, and keep up with rent.

“It’s hard to justify another conflict thousands of miles away when costs at home keep rising. If we have the resources to fund a war, we have the resources to lower costs and fully pursue accountability for the predators tied to Epstein.”
