Dear Neighbor, Welcome to my May Newsletter! As summer begins and our community comes alive with events and gatherings, my team and I remain dedicated to supporting residents across House District 3. Whether it’s addressing everyday concerns or advancing policy solutions, we are committed to serving our district and delivering meaningful results. This month, we have continued prioritizing community outreach and engagement. Listening to residents helps us better understand the challenges and opportunities facing our district, while also providing valuable ideas to guide our work. These conversations are essential to ensuring our efforts reflect the needs of the people we serve. In addition to our regular work in Lansing, I was proud to host the Michigan State House of Representatives’ Annual Bipartisan Legislative Softball Game with my colleague Rep. Tom Kunse. The event brought lawmakers together in a spirit of collaboration and raised $15,000 for local youth programs, demonstrating the positive impact we can make when we come together in support of the next generation. Thank you for staying connected and engaged. It is an honor to represent our community in Lansing. Sincerely, |

Legislative Snapshot: Fighting for the People’s Agenda |
|
As we moved through the past month, our focus has remained on advancing policies that support families and strengthen Michigan’s communities. We continued reviewing budget recommendations to ensure a responsible plan that prioritizes our residents. Brownfield Redevelopment Program I also testified in the state Senate alongside state Sen. Sam Singh in support of bipartisan legislation to improve Michigan’s Brownfield Redevelopment Program. These proposals are designed to modernize a long-standing and successful program by updating outdated rules that currently limit redevelopment efforts across the state. The legislation would increase funding caps for redevelopment projects, remove restrictions that limit communities to one project at a time, and create new grant and loan opportunities to help local governments partner more effectively with the state. These changes also strengthen coordination with the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and improve the state’s ability to respond quickly to redevelopment opportunities. Importantly, this program has already demonstrated strong results, generating an estimated $41 return for every $1 invested by the state. By making these updates, we can help ensure Michigan remains competitive and continues to support job creation across our state. |
