SALINE, Mich., Dec. 5, 2025 — The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) delayed a vote today on approval to allow DTE to provide power to a proposed data center near Saline that is backed by tech giant Oracle. During a public comment period this week, residents shared their concerns about fast-tracking the approval process and circumventing public input.

In response to MPSC taking the vote off today’s agenda, state Representative Morgan Foreman (D-Pittsfield Twp.) released the following statement:

“Today’s decision is a win for the community. From the beginning of this process, I have advocated for my constituents’ ability to have their voices heard. This development needs to be done with transparency, and public feedback is vital.

“I’ve heard from my community, and they raise serious concerns about what a data center of this size would mean for the environment and their energy bills. I’ve also heard   real concerns that their voices are being silenced. If the data center is going to be built in their backyard, then they should have a say in how that looks. From the outset, I’ve encouraged the Public Service Commission to hear from the people and allow for a full and transparent approval process with opportunities for robust public input and urge continued outreach to locals.”
