Glanville Applauds United Way’s Day of Caring, Supporting Community Projects Across West MI

WALKER, Mich., Oct. 1, 2026 — Heart of West Michigan United Way hosted their 32nd annual Day of Caring on Sept. 25, bringing over 1,100 community volunteers and 50 companies together to complete nearly 90 community service projects across West Michigan. After the event, state Rep. Carol Glanville (D-Walker) issued the following statement commending United Way’s work:

“Heart of West Michigan United Way’s Day of Caring is proof that when our community comes together to help out our neighbors, even just one day can make an immense visible and tangible impact. I am proud to support every volunteer, company and organizer who rolled up their sleeves to help turn the tide in people’s lives on this day. Thank you to the leadership and staff at Heart of West Michigan United Way for continuing to reach out and call in local organizations, employers and volunteers to give back. Your work is crucial to the success and well-being of our community.”

At the end of 2025, Glanville announced a $15,000 donation from The States Project’s Future Now Action Fund to the Heart of West Michigan United Way to support its ongoing efforts to improve lives across Allegan, Kent and Ottawa counties. The funding was strategically allocated to several key community initiatives, including $3,000 for the Movement for Local Heroes event, $3,000 for the annual Stuff the Bus campaign and $5,000 for the Day of Caring event. The remaining funds are designated to support the Student United Way program, helping to expand opportunities for youth engagement and community service throughout West Michigan.
