Glanville Commends Education, Affordability Proposals in State of the State Address
Democratic legislator urges for smart solutions to mitigate federal funding gaps to fully fund Michigan schools and lower costs for families
LANSING, Mich., Feb. 26, 2026 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her final State of the State address yesterday to a joint legislative body and guests, sharing her priorities for the year ahead. In her speech, the governor shared proposals to create jobs, lower costs, build more affordable housing and continue building on record investments in education and literacy.
In response to the address, state Rep. Carol Glanville (D-Walker) issued the following statement:
“I’m committed to working tirelessly for a budget that delivers lasting affordability solutions and ensures every Michigander has access to a high-quality education. I was encouraged to hear that the governor remains committed to lowering costs and strengthening literacy support for our communities.”
