HOLT, Mich., Oct. 28, 2026 — Yesterday, The Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) and Lighthouse Sustainability announced plans to explore developing a more than $10 billion data center at the 423-acre Holt Economic Opportunity Park.
Following the announcement, Delhi Township ended its membership with LEAP, saying township officials were not made aware of the project before the plans were made public. State Rep. Kara Hope (D-Holt) raised concerns about the project and the process surrounding its announcement, issuing the following statement:
“I am disappointed to see LEAP and Lighthouse Sustainability roll out its plan to bring a data center to Delhi Township; this is especially concerning because the Delhi Township Board has clearly expressed their opposition to data centers in Delhi. This surprise announcement foreshadows the potential for a lack of transparency and good-faith communication, if this project continues.
“Our community has a one-year moratorium on the development of projects like this for a reason: residents are concerned about the potential negative consequences that data centers bring. Community members must have a meaningful opportunity to make their voices heard — to be listened to and understood. People’s concerns must be taken into account with utmost sincerity, not simply as a box to check off during the process of community engagement. I hope the developers are intentional throughout this process and listen to the residents who would be most impacted by this project.”
