LANSING, Mich., March 12, 2026 — Today a vehicle rammed into Temple Israel, a synagogue in West Bloomfield that includes an early childhood center and school. Authorities discovered a large quantity of explosives inside the vehicle. There were no reported fatalities among congregants or staff. The suspect was shot and killed by security at the scene. In response, state Rep. Jason Hoskins (D-Southfield), issued the following statement: “I was disturbed to hear about the attack at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield today. A synagogue, or any house of worship, should be a place where people feel safe coming together in faith and community. “My thoughts are with the members of Temple Israel and the broader Jewish community. I’m grateful to the security personnel and first responders who acted quickly to keep people safe. “Antisemitism and violence have no place in Michigan. We must continue standing together and looking out for one another so that every community can live and worship without fear.” |
