LANSING — Members of the Michigan House Democratic Caucus will be holding a series of listening tour town halls throughout the state of Michigan in the coming weeks in order to hear state residents express their top concerns about our state. The “This is Your House” listening tour events kicked off with a town hall event hosted by state Rep. Henry Yanez (D-Sterling Heights) yesterday, and eight more events will take place through April 17.

“Members of the Michigan House Democrats are going to every region of the state, from the tip of the Upper Peninsula to Downriver, and from Muskegon to Flint, in order to make sure that everyone has their say,” House Democratic Leader Rep. Sam Singh (D-East Lansing) said. “Too often, working people feel like they’ve been shut out of the political discussion. We want to make sure they have an opportunity to stand up, speak out and be heard. We look forward to hearing from as many people as possible in the coming weeks.”

“As representatives, it is our duty to be the voice of our constituents at the state Capitol — but we can’t do that unless we listen to them first,” House Democratic Floor Leader Rep. Christine Greig (D-Farmington Hills) said. “We will continue to make ourselves accessible and give as many people as possible a chance to speak with us directly and tell us what they want us to work on in the Legislature. This listening tour is just one way to have a dialogue between members of the House Democratic Caucus and the people of Michigan and I look forward to learning how we can best serve the people of our state.”
