LANSING, Mich., Sept. 23, 2021 — Today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer joined the Michigan Economic Development Corp. to announce that Rivian, a manufacturer of all-electric adventure vehicles, is establishing its new Rivian Service Support Operations facility in Plymouth. The move is expected to create 100 new high-wage jobs and invest $4.6 million into the area. In response, state Rep. Matt Koleszar (D-Plymouth) issued the following statement:

“Rivian’s continued expansion into Plymouth is good for Plymouth and good for business. This move means Rivian joins a host of other automakers making similar investments into Southeast Michigan. As more and more automotive companies move their production and support operations here, I think you’re really going to see a massive snowball effect. Companies see the writing on the wall. They know we have the infrastructure, culture and no short supply of talented workers. They know Michigan still leads the world in automotive innovation.”
