ALLEN PARK, Mich., Aug. 10, 2021 — Gov. Gretchen Witmer announced that more than $2 million in grants were awarded under the MI Clean Water Plan for 15 Michigan cities, villages and townships. This includes $53,000 awarded to the city of Allen Park to assist water supplies in asset management plan development and upgrades. In response, state Rep. Tullio Liberati (D-Allen Park) issued the following statement:

“The recent flooding and sewage issues in my district have only highlighted the existing problems with the water infrastructure system. Issues with lead, PFAS and other pollutants in our water will not disappear without upgrades and action. That’s why I am grateful that the Whitmer administration awarded our city with the Drinking Water Assessment Management grant to help bring real change to our community. While we still have much work to do, this grant brings us a step closer to ensuring our water is safe today and for generations to come.”
