McFall Celebrates $152 Million in Funding for Selfridge

HAZEL PARK, Mich., May 27, 2026 — Today, state Rep. Mike McFall (D-Hazel Park) joined Gov. Gretchen Whitmer as she signed into law $152 million in supplemental funding for Selfridge Air National Guard Base that was recently passed by the legislature. The investment will support runway and infrastructure improvements at the base. After the bill signing, McFall issued the following statement: 

“Selfridge is a huge part of our community and economy, and this investment helps secure its future. Supporting the base means supporting local jobs, strengthening Macomb County, and making sure Selfridge continues playing a critical role in our national defense. Selfridge contributes about $850 million to Michigan’s economy and supports roughly 30,000 jobs statewide. Thousands of Michigan families rely on the base and the economic stability it brings to our region. Investments like this help retain good-paying jobs and ensure Selfridge remains a source of pride for generations to come.”
