HAZEL PARK, Mich., Jan. 9, 2026 — On Wednesday, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer fatally shot resident Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. Following the tragic event, state Rep. Mike McFall (D-Hazel Park) issued the following statement:
“I am deeply disturbed by the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, which occurred during an immigration enforcement operation by an ICE officer in Minnesota. Every loss of life is a tragedy, and when that loss occurs during an interaction with government authorities, it underscores the urgent need for transparency, accountability, and a thorough investigation.
“The Trump administration and the Department of Homeland Security’s response has been misleading and dangerous. Labeling someone a ‘domestic terrorist’ without evidence is reckless and risks fueling violence and division. Our government should protect Americans, not vilify them. My heart is with Renee’s family and with the Minneapolis community as they seek answers and justice. Accountability and the rule of law must prevail.”
