LANSING, Mich., July 31, 2023 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed House Bill 4437, the 2023-24 state budget, into law today. The budget includes substantial investments in workforce recruitment and retention, infrastructure and public safety. After the signing, state Rep. Denise Mentzer (D-Mt. “This budget represents a new beginning for our community. The investments in our children, public safety, health care, education and infrastructure are huge wins for Macomb County and all of Michigan. This budget will make lasting impacts for the future of this state, and I am so glad I could be a part of history, by working on and supporting this budget.

“I am elated that Macomb will receive $500,000 for a new fire truck, $1 million for an inclusive playground in Clinton Township, $40 million for a County Mental Health Intake Facility, $5 million for the St. Clair Metropark north marina and $5 million for a Mount Clemens housing project. This base is such a big part of our community, and these investments will promote economic growth and prosperity while keeping our nation safe.”
