LANSING, Mich., June 30, 2022 — Today, the Michigan House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 1028. The bill provides $45.6 million from the Natural Resources Trust Fund (NRTF) to support land acquisition and development to improve parks and recreation. Saginaw County will receive funding for two trail projects: one in Tittabawassee Township to connect the existing trails to the Great Lakes Bay Regional Trail; and development of a trailhead along the Iron Belle Trail in Carrollton Township. Saginaw Riverfront Park will also receive funding to add a scenic overlook and extend the trail by 0.75 miles. In response, state Rep. Amos O’Neal (D-Saginaw) made the following statement:

“After many meetings and much advocacy with local officials, I was extremely proud to vote in favor of these grants. Beautifying our communities by investing in our natural spaces will make Saginaw County a better place to live, work and play. I will continue to keep our district informed as these projects develop, and I look forward to seeing them come to fruition.”
