SAGINAW, Mich., Dec. 20, 2023 — The Michigan Economic Development Corp. formally recognized Buena Vista Charter Township as a certified Redevelopment Ready Community (RRC) this week.

“I’m glad I could attend the monumental designation ceremony. It took the township many years to reach this goal, and it has finally been accomplished,” said state Rep. Amos O’Neal (D-Saginaw). “This exciting event officially inducted Buena Vista as part of a group of only 71 Michigan communities to have qualified as ‘thoroughly prepared’ when it comes to planning and zoning to remove traditional barriers within the state.”

Certification status is a compelling indicator that a community has removed development barriers and streamlined processes to be more competitive and attractive to investors. As a certified community, Buena Vista will have access to new tools to implement its community development goals as well as ongoing support and technical assistance from the Redevelopment Ready Communities team. Annual check-ins and updates will help ensure the township continues implementing the best practices over time. Certification is active for five years before needing to be renewed.

“I want to again congratulate the township on this huge honor. This certification will continue to improve our township’s economic development opportunities, and with that comes growth and prosperity. This designation is a win for greater Saginaw, and I couldn’t be more proud of the hard work that got us there,” O’Neal said.
