BAY CITY, Mich., Nov. 29, 2022 — Today, President Joe Biden visited SK Siltron, a mid-Michigan manufacturer of semiconductor wafers used in electric vehicle production. President Biden touted the federal CHIPS and Science Act, a package amounting to $280 billion to increase U.S. semiconductor production, which he signed into law in August. He also addressed the many positive economic shifts taking place in the U.S. in the last two years. State Rep. Amos O’Neal (D-Saginaw) attended the event and issued the following statement:

“With the hard work of many, we have reignited Michigan as the manufacturing hub of the nation. The manufacturing of chips in the U.S will drive Michigan’s electric car production in a brave new direction. There is no better place than Michigan to take on these endeavors — new jobs, new opportunities and more Michigan cars. The future is bright here, and it is exciting to have President Biden acknowledge this dynamic progress.”
