LANSING, Mich., May 10, 2022 —  State Rep. Amos O’Neal (D-Saginaw) voted today to send a proposed amendment to the Michigan Constitution to the November ballot. The amendment would require annual financial disclosure from legislators and state officers and change the number of years an individual can serve in the Legislature. After the vote, O’Neal issued the following statement:

“I voted yes for this proposed amendment because I believe it will make Lansing a more ethical and effective place. Michigan is one of two states that does not have these requirements. This amendment will provide accountability for the public if added to the constitution. If you were wondering whether your lawmakers are serving you, themselves or someone else, you can find out for yourself with this amendment.”
