LANSING, Mich., Feb. 11, 2026 — Today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer released her executive budget recommendations for the upcoming fiscal year. As the budget process begins, House Democrats are focused on improving affordability, investing in education and making health care more accessible.
In response, state Rep. Natalie Price (D-Berkley), member of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement:
“Today, we heard all about the budget crisis facing Michigan created by the impacts of the so-called ‘One Big Beautiful Bill.’ While this proposal doesn’t undo all the needless damage caused by D.C. Republicans, it is a meaningful step toward safeguarding our state. I remain focused on protecting public health, which includes ensuring Medicaid funding is secure, giving long overdue raises to our direct care workers and expanding Rx Kids to give new moms and babies the best start to life possible. As a former teacher, I recognize kids need our support from the time they start pre-K until they graduate high school and beyond. We owe it to residents of our state to find fair, responsible ways to invest in kids, protect health care and lower costs, and today’s proposal moves us in that direction.”
