LANSING — Tonight, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer gave her first State of the State address, outlining her vision for the state and calling on everyone to help build bridges and work collaboratively to address the issues we face as fellow Michiganders. In response, state Rep. Julie Brixie (D-Meridian Township) issued the following statement:

“I commend Gov. Whitmer on her call for bipartisanship. It is time to get back to building bridges and working collaboratively to address the issues we face as fellow Michiganders. I look forward to working with Gov. Whitmer and my colleagues in the Legislature to close the skills gap by creating opportunity for our children to receive an affordable degree, stay in Michigan and succeed. As the governor outlined, we also have to work together to reinvest in our classrooms, fix our aging infrastructure, and protect our Great Lakes and vast natural resources. Let’s get it done.”

Rep. Brixie was joined by McLaren Greater Lansing President and CEO Kirk Ray for the address.
