ALLEN PARK — State Representative Frank Liberati (D-Allen Park) visited four schools in the 13th District on Monday to read to children in classes from kindergarten to third grade as part of the annual March is Reading Month celebration.

“It was a pleasure reading to students this week, not only because we all had fun, but because reading is such an important part of learning,” Liberati said.

Liberati visited Lindemann and Arno elementary schools in Allen Park, and Grogan and Shelters elementary schools in Southgate. Between the four schools, Liberati estimates he read to roughly 350-400 children.

“Childhood literacy is a key indicator of educational achievement,” Liberati said. “Kids who develop a love of reading often translate that to a love of learning, and that sets them up for a lifetime of success.”
