LANSING — State Rep. Sylvia Santana (D-Detroit) was sworn in on the floor of the Michigan House of Representatives, during today’s opening ceremony for the 99th Legislature. Santana, who represents House District 9, is excited to get to work on behalf of her constituents. House District 9 is comprised of the lower west side of the city of Detroit and a portion of the city of Dearborn.

“I am honored and humbled to serve the people of the 9th District,” Santana said. “It is truly a privilege to be sent to Lansing to represent the hard working families of Detroit and Dearborn.”

Santana was joined at the ceremony by her husband, former state Rep. Harvey Santana, her daughter, Sofia, and relatives Norris L. Ford Sr. and Norris L. Ford III.

“I am grateful to my constituents to have been entrusted the honor of representing our community,” Santana said. “Together with their love, faith and energy, we can continue to build a city in which everyone feels welcomed.”
