LANSING, Mich., Feb. 11, 2026 — Today, state Budget Director Jen Flood proposed the executive budget recommendation for the upcoming fiscal year. As the budget process begins, state Rep. Will Snyder (D-Muskegon) is focused on improving affordability, investing in education, and making health care more accessible.
Following the presentation, Snyder, member of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement:
“As with every budget cycle, I am cautiously optimistic about what we can get accomplished this year. I am excited about the workforce development opportunities the governor presented, especially around the maritime industry, which would directly impact the Muskegon lakeshore. I know that Michigan faces other steep challenges due to federal economic uncertainty stemming from H.R. 1, also known as the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act.’ We will have to get creative to address these challenges.
“Affordability and the cost of living are top of mind for a lot of folks in Muskegon, and I’m prepared to negotiate a budget that gives Michiganders the relief we know they need. This is just the beginning, and we must be vigilant in our investments to train and develop our workforce to set working people up for success, while also working to bring down prices and put more money in people’s pockets.”
