LANSING, Mich., March 24, 2026 – Today, The Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF) board approved two projects in Muskegon and Ottawa counties to support infrastructure improvements that will allow for transformational investments.

“Today’s announcement represents a massive win for our community and the broader region,” state Rep. Will Snyder (D-Muskegon). “We all know the economy is tight, so this kind of serious investment will go a long way in building up this community for years to come. These job numbers represent livelihoods for entire families.”

The MSF board approved a $17 million Strategic Site Readiness Program (SSRP) grant for the City of Coopersville (Ottawa County) to use on improvements to a regional water system. In addition to approving an Alternative State Essential Services Assessment abatement, this will help support expansion at the Coopersville Fairlife facility that will see an investment of up to $650 million in its facility and expects to create 150 new jobs.

Additionally, the MSF board approved a $28 million SSRP grant for Muskegon County to repair and modernize a wastewater system that has been serving residents and businesses in the community for over 50 years. The overall cost to address the matter is estimated to be about $64.5 million. This will allow for significant investment by Chobani to expand La Colombe’s facility in Norton Shores. With this investment, the company is expected to create 337 new jobs, retain 312 existing jobs, and invest up to $567 million in the area.

“Beyond the jobs, updating our infrastructure will incentivize future investment and allow the entire region to flourish,” Snyder added. “The state is showing its commitment to our region and its prosperity. This is the type of pointed investment we need in Michigan. I am proud to have played a role in its advocacy and will continue to advocate for its final approval by the Legislature.”
