Tate Offers Resolution Commemorating 85th Anniversary of the International Peace Memorial

Democratic lawmaker reaffirms Michigan’s relationship with Canada

LANSING, Mich., April 29, 2026 — Today, state Rep. Joe Tate (D-Detroit) offered House Resolution 298 to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the International Peace Memorial on Belle Isle in Detroit. After the resolution was adopted, Tate issued the following statement:

“I was honored to bring forward this resolution with the support of Colin Bird, the Consul General of Canada in Detroit. For 85 years, the International Peace Memorial has stood as a quiet but powerful reminder that strong relationships are built on trust, respect and shared values.
