LANSING — State Rep. Joe Tate (D-Detroit) was sworn in officially today as representative for the 2nd House District for the 2019-2020 legislative session. The swearing-in ceremony marked the formal opening of Michigan’s 100th Legislature. In response, Rep. Tate issued the following statement:

“It is my distinct honor and privilege to serve our community, and I look forward to speaking on behalf of the people of Detroit, Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe, and Grosse Pointe Farms while in Lansing. As a proud product of our public school institutions, I understand the vast social and economic opportunities that await our kids when they have access to a quality education. That is why a priority of mine will be to ensure our public schools have the resources they need to set up our students for their future achievements.”
