Hello Friends, It is very difficult to keep up with today’s rapid news environment, and there are many important and rapidly changing policies at the state and federal levels you might be trying to track. As your representative in Lansing, I want to ensure you have clear and reliable ways to stay connected with me. I also hope to keep you informed and engaged in the work being done by your team in Lansing. My priority is to remain accessible, transparent and present in the community as we confront important decisions together. So, over the next several months, the 40th House District team will be hosting events across the district to hear directly from you. These conversations are essential as we work to protect our families and neighbors, make responsible decisions in a year which requires budget cuts and respond to rapidly changing community needs. My team and I look forward to seeing you at one of these gatherings. |

The weekly updates posted there are designed to keep you informed about legislation moving through the Capitol, the political process and opportunities to get involved: |

As we prepare for the effects of federal cuts tied to the One Big Beautiful Bill, state appropriators like myself are already diving into the work of assessing how these changes will impact Michigan. A major area of focus in the past two weeks has been the Rural Health Transformation Program — an effort with serious implications for health care access across our state. We have begun examining the program in committee, and you can watch a recap of that hearing, including the questions I raised, here. |

I want to close by emphasizing that our office is here to support you. Whether you need assistance navigating state departments to obtain resources and services, have questions about legislation or are advocating for an issue you care deeply about, we are ready to help. Your experiences, concerns and ideas shape the work I do every day and I hope you will continue reaching out and staying engaged. Sincerely, Matt Longjohn State Representative |
