🏛️ My Testimony for Shir Tikvah’s Funding Request
|
This month, I testified in support of my Legislatively Directed Spending Item (LDSI) request for Shir Tikvah, the Reform Judaism synagogue in Troy.
I wanted to advocate directly for the resources our local faith centers need right now. The rising financial burdens facing these institutions simply to remain safe from attack remains a critical issue. This funding is crucial to ensure basic security.
Supporting these upgrades is essential to protect religious freedom and help ensure that all residents in our community can gather in peace.

🧾 My Vote Against the House Property Tax Package
|
Recently, I voted against the House Property Tax Package (House Bills 5872–80) because it affects the financial stability of our local communities. While it’s important to provide tax relief to Michigan families, this fast-tracked proposal purports to eliminate an annual $6 billion in vital local funding mechanisms without a reliable plan to replace the lost revenue.
Property taxes fund the essential services our neighborhoods depend on every day, including our first responders, local schools, roads, and courts. Our local cities and townships could face an irreversible revenue loss, which is why I chose to vote no. I will continue to hold out for a balanced, responsible approach that delivers meaningful tax relief to our seniors and working families while keeping our hometowns whole.

🥎 New Cricket Field in Troy!
|
On May 14, I was thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of Boulan Park’s new full-size cricket field, a project made possible by a state grant I was proud to secure in the budget. I am so grateful to the local league leaders and city officials who worked closely with me to make the final push in Lansing and bring this incredible recreational asset to Troy.

🪶 Tributes, Letters and Certificates

Do you know someone in the district who is retiring and would like a legislative tribute to celebrate their years of service? Has a local team or group reached a milestone that they would like to be acknowledged with an official certificate for each member? Our office can provide legislative tributes, letters and certificates on a wide range of recognitions for constituents.
If you would like to request any of these materials for yourself or others, please email my office at [email protected] with as much information as possible on the requested recognition, and we will work with you to arrange delivery or presentation of the recognition!
