LANSING — The Michigan State Police announced recently their list of districts and schools throughout the state that will receive portions of the $25 million they are offering in grants to improve school safety. The grants will go toward improvements such as enhanced locks and exterior security, public address systems and more. Among those chosen were St. Gerard School, St. Michael Catholic School, Eaton Rapids Public Schools and Potterville Public Schools. In response to the announcement, state Rep. Angela Witwer (Delta Township) issued the following statement:

“The safety of our students — in and out of the classroom — should always be our number one priority, and parents should have the freedom to send their kids to school without fearing for their safety. These grants are an important component of developing the school environment Michigan’s students deserve, and I will continue working with our schools and my colleagues here in Lansing to ensure our children are safe.”
