CHARLOTTE, Mich., Oct. 28, 2025 — State Rep. Angela Witwer (Delta Twp.) announced and presented the awardees for the 76th House District’s September Small Business and Teacher of the Month awards. Receiving 14 nominations from community members, the Small Business Award went to Kickin Glass, an in-shop auto glass installation mobile service based in Charlotte. The business owner, Bill Smith, was hailed by his nominators for his 37 years of experience and deep commitment to taking care of his clients and other small businesses of the area. “On top of offering fair prices, transparency, mobile service and an expert job at glass replacement, Bill was praised by his nominators for his immense contributions to the community, which is invaluable in a small business owner,” Witwer said. “Whether he is entertaining people in our summer concert series in downtown Charlotte or volunteering with the VFW, he has a selfless and genuine character that has made him a staple in our community.” |

The Teacher of the Month Award went to Lexi Michalski, a social worker and social emotional learning educator at Maplewood Elementary School. Her nominator praised her work ethic and commitment to ensuring her students feel seen, safe and secure. “Lexi truly goes above and beyond to ensure every student is cared for. Her nominator commended her work during March is Reading Month and similar events to make certain students have what they need to handle big emotions and benefit from learning opportunities,” Witwer said. “It was my honor to present her with this award to recognize her care, passion and work as a crucial support for the Maplewood school community.” Witwer also presented the 76th House District’s July Business of the Month award to Missy Smith, business owner of Salon 83, LLC, in Charlotte. Missy was commended by her nominators for her strong client relationships, mentorship of up-and-coming stylists, care and donations to the homeless and offering of free haircuts to the veteran community.
