Xiong Condemns Warren Consolidated Schools Teacher Charged with Possessing Child Pornography

WARREN, Mich., Aug. 20, 2026 — Yesterday, a Warren Consolidated Schools teacher was arraigned on 12 charges, including possession of drugs and child pornography on his cellphone. Mark Michael Sharrow was arrested due to his connection with a third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge in Houghton Lake. According to Warren Consolidated Schools, Sharrow was on administrative leave when he was arrested and his home and phone were searched. In response to the search and arrest, state Rep. Mai Xiong (D-Warren) issued the following statement:

“I am extremely grateful to local law enforcement, the Warren Police Department, and the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office for acting swiftly to protect our children by arresting and charging Mark Michael Sharrow, a Warren Consolidated Schools teacher who has been placed on administrative leave.

“I fully support the Macomb County Prosecutor’s efforts to pursue a thorough investigation and, if the allegations are substantiated, hold this individual accountable and deliver justice for the families impacted.

“We must do everything in our power to prevent this kind of horrific material from being created and distributed and to protect Michigan’s young people from harm.”
