Xiong Presents Tribute Celebrating New “RARE Park” in Roseville
Democratic lawmaker attends grand opening of the latest vibrant community space, made possible by the Michigan Spark Grant program
ROSEVILLE, Mich., May 21, 2026 — State Rep. Mai Xiong (D-Warren) proudly joined community leaders and residents yesterday to attend the ribbon cutting of RARE Park, presenting a legislative tribute in honor of the vibrant new community space. The Recreation Authority of Roseville and Eastpointe (RARE) has long created opportunities for the community to connect outdoors, and their latest park proves the culmination of its namesake’s work.
“The investments that made RARE Park possible will benefit our entire community. This outdoor recreation space will help strengthen our neighborhoods, improve quality of life and create opportunities for families and friends to connect and make memories for generations to come,” Xiong said. “I will continue to support public funding for initiatives like the Michigan Spark Grant program that make safe, welcoming and accessible community spaces like this available to all.”
The RARE Park features an eight-foot-wide walking path, picnic pavilions, cornhole and pickleball courts, expanded playgrounds with safety features and a community garden, among other amenities. Xiong thanked RARE Executive Director Tony Lipinski and other board members, staff and volunteers at the event for their commitment to bringing RARE Park to life.
“Today is a day of celebration for Roseville, thanks to the hard work of the leaders and volunteers who dedicate their time to improving our community,” Xiong continued. “This outdoor space is proof that when we connect leaders on the ground with the resources they need, like dedicated state recreation grants, we can ensure taxpayer’s dollars come back to where they belong and to improve the quality of life for residents.”
