HARPER WOODS — The UAW strike against General Motors has entered its 19th day, with negotiations continuing over better wages for hourly workers and increased job security. In support, state Rep. Tenisha Yancey (D-Harper Woods) joined UAW members on the picket line this week and released the following statement:

“I will always stand behind our brothers and sisters in labor as they continue to fight for the quality employment opportunities and security needed to build the life they deserve. While the CEO of GM raked in a salary of over $20 million last year, the hardworking employees who made that profit possible faced job uncertainty and stagnant wages. I’m optimistic the ongoing negotiations will result in a more equitable workplace for the UAW members on strike that finally values their incredible contributions to our state and nation’s success.”
