State Representative Henry Yanez is serving his third term representing Michigan’s 25th House District, which comprises parts of the cities of Sterling Heights and Warren in Macomb County.
Before serving in the Legislature, Yanez worked as a Sterling Heights firefighter and paramedic since 1995. He is a member of the International Association of Firefighters, Local 1557, and was previously a member of the Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals since 2010. Yanez graduated from Oakland Community College with degrees in fire science and general studies.
Yanez has served on the House Appropriations Committee, as Democratic vice chairman of the Financial Services Committee, and the Appropriations Subcommittees on Community Colleges (minority vice chairman), Corrections (minority vice chairman), Human Services Subcommittee of Health and Human Services, and Military and Veterans Affairs. During his first term, Yanez served on the House Committees on Commerce, Energy and Technology, and Military and Veterans Affairs.
Yanez and his wife, Jane, live in Sterling Heights. He has two children, Ryan and Alison, two step-daughters, Natalie and Cassidy, and one grandson, Kellen.
